Question by Walter Miguel: How does an electronic cigarette work?
I saw a video on TV about these electronic cigarettes that apparently don’t make any smoke, but still give you nicotene. Not sure how these works. Anyone care to explain?

Answer by KateThere's a battery which is activated by a switch and it powers a heating coil (atomiser). The heat from the coil turns liquid into vapour, similar to steam being created from a boiling kettle.
The liquid contains propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol and/or glycerine which create thicker vapour than water/steam, it's more like smoke. Also in the liquid are usually flavourings and nicotine although they're not necessary for vapour.
